Erect Architecture worked with Adventure Playground Engineers to design and deliver 3 ‘parklets’ for local centres within Waltham Forest. Each parklet was designed specifically for its location and paired with a local business.

At Froth & Rind the parklet supports the bustling café culture along Orford Road.

Outside Cove 17 Barber Shop on Wood Street, the parklet creates a waiting space and meeting point.

The parklets were commissioned by L.B. Waltham Forest to support their active transport strategy and provide infrastructure to encourage walking, cycling and use of public transport. They aim to enhance the surrounding public space with the addition of seating and greenery, providing an opportunity to rest on the go or to stop and spend more time in the local area.

Outside Stone Mini Market a stage and seating allow a performance to take place on occasion and extra seating for the bus stop.

Plaque Making

During the design of the project Erect Architecture visited primary schools local to each parklet to create clay moulds inspired by nature. These were cast into steel plaques and added to each parklet as a marker of the student’s involvement.
