Wood Wharf is a new mixed-use development, adjacent to Canary Wharf. Erect were asked to create a series of inspiring play spaces for children to meet and play in safe, accessible environments. Recently completed, South Dock Park Marvellous Maze will be a multi-sensory delight for under 5s.

Wood Wharf Play Space 1: Marvellous Maze
Low serpentine hedges lead towards discreet entrances into a soft, green maze. Shortcuts, pockets and multiple entrances ensure lots of circulation and rewards for explorers in a small site. Details and patterns are cast into the pigmented concrete surface and enrich the maze to create a sculptural, tactile experience.
The hedges define routes and play pockets with seesaws, sound tubes and other sensory installations. A playful arched bridge, hidden mirrors and see-saw offer elevated viewpoints revealing parts of the maze.
